Why Adoption CounselingMy passions and interests My focus on adoption, attachment and multicultural identity formation has developed naturally out of my own experience. I have experienced the healing power of horses, and because of this, I am passionate and committed to bringing horses and humans into relationship. I love to spend my working days with children, adolescents and their families, helping them discover and cultivate the strengths they know about but also the strengths they possess and are not aware about. In addition, I help individuals discover or re-discover the connection between mind body and spirit; in particular, the linkage between emotions and physical sensations is a cornerstone of my work. Adoption begins with a loss, and the adopted child, the birth parents, and the adoptive parents have to deal with their grief. The child has to also deal with attachment issues, and issues with their identity. Particularly cultural and racial identity formation may be difficult for cross racial or international adoptees. With my own personal experience and specialization in family systems, attachment and identity formation, I help children, adolescents and their growth, and resolve issues that appear through the developmental stages. In addition, with my specialization in substance abuse, I can also address and resolve addiction and substance abuse issues that certain adoptees may have. Bio I was born in France and raised in a bicultural and bilingual family in Algeria, Cote D’Ivoire, France and Germany. I studied Pharmacology and Molecular Biology and my passion is the impact of emotions on hormones and the expression of genes. I am an avid horseback rider, and strive when I can help people find how to live their live fully. I have lived in Boulder for 7 years, and before in Washington, DC for 5 years. I have come to a point in my life where I felt that I wanted to shift focus from the corporate to the individual realm where I could be of help to other people, and at the same time share my passion for horses and horseback riding. I have a Masters in Molecular Pharmacology, an MBA from the University La Sorbonne in Paris and am taking the Masters in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. I am certified in Equine Assisted Therapy (EAP) first level, and am an instructor in training at Path intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International).
